GoNoodle
This week I'm blogging about movement, mindfulness, and incorporating those things into academics. GoNoodle is a free resource for all of those things for anyone in a K-5 classroom. If you are an elementary teacher looking to incorporate movement into your learning or even just a few brain breaks throughout the day, you should definitely check it out!

WHAT IS GONOODLE?
GoNoodle is a FREE online resource for teachers in the K-5 classroom. It provides short, interactive videos that get kids up and moving throughout the school day. Activities range anywhere from 1 minute to 15 minutes, depending on what you are wanting your students to do. You can find anything from calming videos that simply teach your students to breathe to intense workout videos that get students up and alert for the day.
WHAT KINDS OF ACTIVITIES CAN YOU DO?
There are several "channels" on GoNoodle that allow teachers and students to have choice in what kind of activity they want to engage in. Each channel is unique in what it offers for movement and learning. Here are a few of our favorites...
Blazer Fresh
This channel features 31 educational videos in which ELA, Social Studies, Science, and Math content are taught using hip hop song-and-dance. My kiddos love these videos!
MooseTube
This channel features silly songs that typically include patterns for the kids to sing along with. Videos typically last between 1-3 minutes and are a favorite in my classroom when we need a quick brain break during a transition time.
Flow, Maximo, Think About It, and Empower Tools
If you're looking for something to bring mindfulness into your classroom, or simply something to calm the kids down after lunch or recess, these channels are a must! Typically set between 1-4 minutes, these activities include everything from simple breathing exercises to learning about controlling emotions to short yoga videos that promote body awareness. My kids typically ask for these videos after returning from activities like lunch and PE to help them get refocused for learning.
All-in-all, there are about 20 different channels including others that are specifically for indoor recess between 10-15 minutes.
GONOODLE PLUS
If you have access to GoNoodle plus, you can build in personalized academic activities within your movement videos. Our PE teacher was able to get our school sponsored through Norton Children's which works to promote student health and wellness. Otherwise, you can purchase GoNoodle plus for $10. You can also access learning extensions and pre-made question sets. Definitely worth it!
