Pic Collage

This week I'll be talking about Pic Collage and Pic Collage Edu. If you've heard the term "app-smashing", this app is a top pick! It can be used in conjunction with tons of other apps and resources.

I discovered Pic Collage a few years ago when I first started using Seesaw (click here to read my previous blog post). The only downside was that there were lots of adds and pop-ups, which can be unnerving when you teach 7-year-olds! Only recently did I discover Pic Collage Edu. The great thing about this app is that it is FREE! There are some paid features within the app but they are not necessary for your students to be able to get creative.

What I really love about Pic Collage is the ability to use the app along with other apps to boost student creativity and out of the box thinking. I often use it for reading or math responses which my students can then post on Seesaw. Here is an example of a math response in which my students had to go around the room and find different shapes that we had been learning about in real life.

You can also upload graphic organizers that students can then fill in with text or pictures or allow for more creativity!

There are also various backgrounds and stickers you can use... you can visit this blog to find out how to use pic collage to make student books! I am excited to see where my students can take this app with their creativity in the future as we learn more about using the features in conjunction with other new apps!

  1. Kayla,
I was drawn to your blog post because I have tried to use Pic Collage and did not know there was an education version! I love the idea of making student books, my students make a children’s book to show their mastery of literary devices and this might be an effective way to translate that online.

    1. I was so excited when they came out with the EDU version. I hated all the pop ups with the original app but it's still a great one to use!
