Seesaw Learning
One app we love in room 125 is called the Seesaw Learning app. This week we used Seesaw to demonstrate our learning in our science station. Students posted a picture of the items they sorted into the 3 categories of solid, liquid, and gas. Then the students posted a picture of their sort and recorded narration to explain their thinking. They also had the option of taking a video while sorting to show how they sorted the items into the categories.
This app also has the ability for students to comment on others posts within the app. I love this feature because it allows for my students to practice digital citizenship along with their everyday learning opportunities. I can go through and approve, grade, and comment on each student's post as their assignments are turned in.
What I really love is the access parents have to their student's learning within the app. Parents are given a code and a login so that throughout the year, as their child posts their work, they can like and comment on anything posted. My students love that they can post something on Seesaw and, within minutes, receive a comment from their parent. The ability for teacher, student, and parent interaction makes this app a valuable tool for student learning.
This app can be used from K-12 and the best part is...it's FREE!

Hi! I've been looking into using Seesaw in my classroom as well. I previously used the Recap app, for student videos, but they've recently announced that they would be closing that app and re-branding as Synch. I'm really interested in learning how Seesaw integrates with Google Classroom.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I love that you can "app-smash" with so many apps in Seesaw. My students have really loved it. I have not heard of Synch but I will check it out!
DeleteI have heard about Seesaw as well, but decided to go with google since the district has gone in that direction. I teach first grade and it has been difficult for them to start, so as a consensus we decided to back off. Is Seesaw easier to use?
ReplyDeleteNikki,
DeletePart of the reason I have not switched to Google is because Seesaw is WAY more user friendly for primary students. My kiddos love seesaw and it is easier to sign in and post things. You can assign activities for students as well. You should definitely check it out!
