EPIC!
This week I am going to tell you all about a resource I simply couldn't live without in my classroom. If you've never heard of EPIC! books... click this link now and sign your class up for this amazing and FREE resource! Epic! provides THOUSANDS of top-notch, quality children's books to students at no cost for educators.
I discovered Epic almost four years ago and never looked back. Not only did it increase my classroom library by over 35,000 books, it also increased my kids reading engagement by leaps and bounds. Even my most reluctant readers will beg to pick up an iPad or a Chromebook so they can hop on Epic and read a book.
Many times educators are turned off when it comes to online resources for books because they end up being random books that we've never heard of. When it comes to the library of books provided by Epic, students will find their favorites, such as:
Magic School Bus
Whatever After
Big Nate
Pete the Cat
National Geographic Kids
Time for Kids
The Giving Tree
I Need My Monster
and so many more!!!
The great thing about Epic books is that kids don't have to be able to read words in order to read all of the books. There are books for every level of reader. There are read-to-me books, audio books, picture books, chapter books, and more. A child's Epic library can also be set to show them books on their reading level, according to their age level, based on their personal preferences, etc. Students are able to personalize their library at any time so that it can evolve with them as they grow as a reader.
For the teacher, Epic tracks how many books students have read. How many hours they have spent reading. Even how many minutes they spent on a particular book! Teachers can also create quizzes, collections of books, and assignments to send to specific students or the class as a whole. The possibilities are truly endless!
Check it out for yourself!
I love Epic! It is so engaging for my students, especially because it asks them what they like to learn/read about. I love that it has them take a preference survey when they first sign in and then recommends books to them. It helps them to enjoy reading!
ReplyDeleteYes! It is so engaging, especially for those reluctant readers!
